Sen. Whitehouse to Speak at APTA’s Legislative Conference

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) will be a featured speaker at APTA’s Legislative Conference, May 18-20, in Washington, DC. Ranking Member of the Committee on Environment and Public Works, the lead Senate committee for developing the Surface Transportation Authorization bill, Sen. Whitehouse has earned a reputation as a fierce advocate for progressive values and a thoughtful legislator who can reach across the aisle to achieve bipartisan solutions.

He has been at the center of bipartisan efforts to pass laws rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure, reforming the criminal and juvenile justice systems, protecting Americans from toxic chemicals in everyday products, and addressing ocean plastic waste.

Sen. Whitehouse served as Rhode Island’s US Attorney and State Attorney General before being elected to the Senate, where he also serves on the Senate Finance Committee, Judiciary Committee, and Budget Committee.
