APTA Commends Southern California First Responders, Public Transit Workers

In light of the recent devastation in southern California, APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas released the following statement: “For the past week, the nation has witnessed wildfires ravage Los Angeles County. The pictures and stories of the devastation are heartbreaking. This human tragedy has displaced thousands of residents, destroyed more than 12,000 homes and buildings, and burned 40,000 acres—about the area of Washington, DC.
“LA Metro [Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority] and the region’s other public transportation operators are supporting the recovery efforts by various means, including providing free rides while working to restore regular transit services in affected neighborhoods.
“We appreciate the dedicated efforts of the first responders and public transit workers, and our thoughts are with the residents and businesses of southern California as they continue to deal with this unprecedented crisis.”
