10/15/2026
APTA has renewed its cooperation with the International Association of Public Transport and renewed its collaborative agreement with the Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand.
APTA and UITP Reconfirm a Commitment to Global Collaboration

APTA renewed its longstanding cooperation with the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) through a new Memorandum of Understanding signed by outgoing APTA Chair Leanne Redden, APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas, and UITP Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani October 3 during the 2026 APTA TRANSform Conference & EXPO in Chicago, IL.
The three-year MOU reconfirms the strong collaboration between APTA and UITP, with a focus on delivering greater value to members through information exchange, international engagement, education, and joint initiatives. Together, these activities will give members additional avenues to connect with international peers, showcase U.S. best practices, exchange knowledge, and bring relevant global experience to the public transportation industry in North America.
APTA and PTAANZ Strengthen a North America–Australasia Partnership

APTA and the Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand (PTAANZ) also renewed their collaborative agreement during the TRANSform Conference & EXPO in Chicago on October 3, strengthening ties among public transportation leaders in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
Signed by APTA’s Leanne Redden and Paul P. Skoutelas, PTAANZ Chief Executive Lauren Streifer, and PTAANZ Board Director Jon Whelan, the three-year agreement is designed to provide members of both associations with tangible opportunities for shared learning and stronger connections. Priorities include exchanging research and best practices, collaborating on strategic issues, participating in one another’s conferences, and expanding targeted peer exchange.
