San Joaquin RTD Appoints Eric Williams as Acting CEO

In California, Eric Williams has been appointed acting chief executive officer (CEO) of the San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD). Williams rejoined the agency in May as chief operating officer. He previously served the agency as manager of grant programs.

Prior to returning to RTD, he served as the grant and capital compliance advisor for the American Rescue Plan Act Program for Wayne County, MI, where he oversaw funding supporting operational, construction, demolition, workforce development, and other transformational community projects.

RTD Board Chairman Derek Graves said, “Eric has the institutional knowledge, the operational expertise, and the trust of this organization.”

Outgoing Interim CEO Bearnard Veasley resigned to attend to personal family matters. Acknowledging his contributions, Graves said, Veasley “didn’t just stabilize this agency, he made sure it had the bench strength to keep moving forward after he was gone.… Eric is one of those leaders Bearnard helped cultivate.”
