APTA Tours Salesforce Transit Center
6/15/2026

On June 4, APTA joined the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA), owner and operator of the multimodal Salesforce Transit Center in San Francisco, and BuildIT, the world’s largest association for LGBTQ+ and allied businesses, professionals, and tradespeople in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries, on a behind-the -scenes tour of the Salesforce Transit Center.
More than 25 partners joined for this informative tour of the four-block long, six-level facility (only four-levels currently open to the public).
The facility is a demonstration of the infrastructure investment TJPA and its partners have made to transform the neighborhood into a transit-oriented development, with two train box levels waiting for Caltrain and California High-Speed Rail systems through The Portal into downtown San Francisco.
Shortly after the tour, APTA then joined BuildIT’s Founders Day event in the Grand Hall of the Transit Center. The event brought together more than 200 people, including public-sector leaders, contractors, and industry advocates to underscore how inclusive procurement practices are expanding access and strengthening the Bay Area’s economy.

The event highlighted TJPA’s historic leadership in equity-focused contracting as being the first to work with BuildIT on SBE outreach during the construction of the transit center.
