GET Bus New Downtown Customer Center Reflects Investment in Customer Experience

Golden Empire Transit (GET Bus) celebrated the completion of its newly renovated customer center in downtown Bakersfield, CA. The agency sees the center as a major investment in customer experience and convenience, and as a symbol of the agency’s broader investments in modernization, technology, and the future of public transit in Bakersfield.

The transit system recently reported record ridership growth—nearly 30 percent growth in fixed-route ridership and more than 55 percent growth in student ridership. To help connect residents to education, jobs, healthcare, and essential services, it is expanding community partnerships and undertaking major modernization efforts in the downtown corridor.

“We are building a transit system that is modern, accessible, welcoming, and designed around the needs of our community. This center is about creating a better experience and convenience for the people who rely on us every day for their transportation needs,” said GET Bus Chief Executive Officer Chris James.

The upgraded Downtown Customer Center serves as a central hub for customer support, including:

  • Pass purchases
  • Bus route and trip planning assistance
  • Student and reduced fare photo ID services
  • Transit information and accessibility assistance

The facility will house GET Bus’s customer service team and members of the district’s marketing and advertising team.
