2023 Hot Companies: Vontas Modernizes Transit Technology

New OnRoute features released for supervisors and bus operations

Last year, at APTA TRANSform 2022 in Seattle, Vontas unveiled Vontas OnTransit, their modernized ITS platform. This year, Vontas returns to APTA highlighting more features of their transit technology to meet the growing needs of the market.

“Our customers asked, and we listened. “We created Vontas OnTransit to be the most agile, adaptable solution on the market,” said Peter Aczel, General Manager, Vontas. “It’s a hub for an integrated, componentized system that saves agencies money. Only implement what you need and add components as your agency and transit offerings grow.”

Since then, Vontas has released both OnRoute Supervisor and Headway modules, which are modern, cloud-based web applications. Both put real-time data in the hands of agencies when and where they are needed. Whether its in-field incidents and accidents, communicating between dispatch and supervisors, or orchestrating bunching and gapping in real-time, Vontas modules adapt to your agency’s needs and operational environments.

Our vision with OnRoute Supervisor is to improve road supervisor efficiency while maintaining agency-wide transparency. With a mobile-first design, OnRoute Supervisor puts the power of central dispatch in the palm of your hands, no longer tied to an in-vehicle laptop or tablet. Your field-support staff can address accidents, incidents, customer requests at layover terminals, discover coaches’ geographical location, and much more. And they can still access critical operational data without radioing to dispatch or limiting your mobility.

Vontas Headway is all about automation and improving ridership information. It manages bunching and gapping on frequency-based routes, provides operators visual feedback of front-and-back vehicle spacing for a consistent pace along the route, and can add or remove service that matches your ridership demands. Vontas’ market-leading solution automatically calculates optimal route spacing based on historical and real-time operating conditions. It is also engineered to leverage ruggedized tablets and GTFS feeds. Vontas Headway is CAD/AVL-agnostic, allowing agencies to implement without expensive hardware upgrades.

Upcoming for Vontas is the redesign of OnRoute BusOps, our flagship application and a highly customizable, mission-critical dispatching solution. OnRoute BusOps utilizes a built-in map where your dispatchers and operators can clearly see and track all of your vehicles, charging stations, and any other mobile and fixed assets all in real-time. In these next iteration concepts, we put users in front of every design decision, combining the latest user interface design techniques with BusOps features like Service Adjustments, Detours, Radio Communication, Incident Management and many more. Experience the intuitive and streamlined workflows of our next generation ITS solutions.
