Welcome APTA TRANSform Conference attendees! On behalf of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and our dedicated staff of coach operators and operations and administrative staff, it is with great enthusiasm that we welcome you to the vibrant city of Anaheim and beautiful Orange County, California, for this year’s APTA TRANSform Conference. We are honored to host such a distinguished group of public transit professionals and visionaries.
Anaheim and Orange County offer a rich tapestry of experiences and innovations that we are excited to share with you. As a region renowned for its dynamic spirit and forward-thinking vision, we invite you to explore the exceptional amenities, scenic attractions, and cultural experiences that define our home. From the world–famous Disneyland Resort to the picturesque coastal landscapes and a bustling downtown Anaheim, there is truly something for everyone.
At OCTA, we are committed to shaping a sustainable and inclusive future for our community. Our ambitious goals and ongoing initiatives reflect our dedication to transforming public transit to best serve our diverse county of more than 3.2 million people. We are particularly proud of our ongoing efforts to convert our entire bus fleet to zero-emissions. This commitment underscores our focus on environmental stewardship and our determination to provide cleaner, more sustainable transportation options for our residents.
In addition to our environmental goals, we are excited about our innovative programs designed to make transit more accessible and equitable. The Youth Ride Free program has been a game-changer, enabling people 18 and younger to travel throughout our service area for free, fostering greater mobility and opportunities for our youth. Similarly, our College Pass program offers free and convenient transit solutions for students, supporting their academic and employment pursuits while encouraging the use of public transit for years to come.
Another milestone in our journey is the OC Streetcar, a 4.1-mile modern electric streetcar soon to travel through one of the nation’s most densely populated areas, from Santa Ana’s thriving downtown and employment hubs to Garden Grove, connecting with our most popular bus routes along the way.
This project, which is more than 85 percent complete, will enhance connectivity and provide a new, reliable mode of transportation within our urban core. The OC Streetcar represents not just a new transportation option, but a vision for a more integrated and accessible transit network that will benefit both current and future generations.
We believe that this conference will be an invaluable opportunity for all of us to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore new ways to advance public transportation. We are excited for you to experience the innovations and attractions that make Anaheim and Orange County a unique and engaging destination.
Thank you to the American Public Transportation Association for bringing this important event to our region. We extend a warm welcome to each of you. Enjoy the conference, connect with colleagues, and immerse yourself in all that Orange County has to offer.
