On Jan. 21, more than 300 participants joined APTA’s rapid reaction webinar on the release of the 2026 Transportation Appropriations Act. The FY26 Transportation Appropriations Act (or THUD Act) provides the overwhelming majority of public transit and passenger rail investment authorized by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and includes several important policy provisions and funding limitations.
APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas introduced Ward W. McCarragher, vice president, government affairs and advocacy, who presented on:
- Public transit and passenger rail funding in the Act
- Impacts on FTA’s CIG Pipeline
- Important policy provisions and funding limitations included and excluded from the final Act
- Advocacy opportunities for APTA members
