FTA PTSCTP Semi-Annual Reporting Period Is Soon
12/16/2025

FTA’s Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program (PTSCTP) semi-annual reporting period is Jan. 1-31. PTSCTP requirements only apply to:
- State Safety Oversight Agencies (SSOAs) and their employees and contractors that conduct safety reviews, inspections, examinations, and other safety oversight activities of rail fixed guideway public transportation systems and
- Rail Transit Agencies (RTAs) and their employees and contractors who are directly responsible for the safety oversight of a recipient’s rail fixed guideway public transportation systems.
The Points of Contact (POCs) identified by SSOAs and RTAs must report the following to FTA semi-annually: (1) the current list of designated participants for PTSCTP at the agency, and (2) the course(s) the agency has identified as required recertification training for PTSCTP designated participants (49 CFR 672.21(d)). POCs are encouraged to use the reporting form to submit the required information.
Additional information on the applicability of the PTSCTP regulation, the definition of “designated personnel,” and PTSCTP enrollment and designated participant changes are available on the PTSCTP webpage.
