ABC Companies Launches COR Transit at APTA EXPO
10/12/2026

ABC Companies announced the launch of COR Transit, a new heavy-duty bus manufacturer at APTA’s 2026 TRANSform and EXPO in Chicago, IL. COR Transit will develop 40-foot heavy-duty diesel buses for the North American public transit market, manufactured in the U.S.
ABC said the venture responds to transit agencies facing aging fleets, longer vehicle lead times, rising costs, and fewer options in the heavy-duty bus market. Prototype activity is targeted for 2027, with initial deliveries planned for 2028.
“For ABC, this did not start with a desire to become a manufacturer. It started with our customers,” said Roman Cornell, CEO of ABC Companies. “If we know there is a need, and we believe we have the ability to help address it, what are we going to do about it? For us, COR Transit is the answer to that question.”
ABC Parts Source supplies parts to more than 700 transit agencies. The company’s view of vehicle challenges and maintenance issues shaped COR Transit. “Our goal is straightforward: Build a reliable bus. Make it practical to operate and maintain. Support it throughout its lifecycle. And give transit agencies another strong choice in the market,” said Cornell.
The company is evaluating potential manufacturing sites. The bus is being developed to meet applicable Buy America requirements and is expected to undergo Altoona testing before commercial production.
