UTA Launches On Demand Service in Northern Utah County

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has launched expanded UTA On Demand curb-to-curb microtransit service in northern Utah County. UTA On Demand service now operates in portions of Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs, Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Lindon, Highland, Cedar Hills, and Alpine.

New service is sponsored by Utah County and Utah DOT. The new North Utah County zone covers an area of 77 square miles and includes several key destinations, including Lehi FrontRunner Station, American Fork FrontRunner Station, Primary Children’s Hospital–Lehi, Saratoga Springs Emergency, Eagle Mountain Senior Center, Lehi Junior High, Vista Heights Middle School, Lake Mountain Middle School, Willowcreek Middle School, and American Fork Junior High.

“Northern Utah County is one of the fastest-growing areas in our state, and this new service is an important step in ensuring transportation options keep pace with that growth,” said Jay Fox, UTA executive director. “UTA On Demand will give residents more flexibility to connect with FrontRunner, other UTA services, and key destinations throughout the area. We appreciate Utah County and UDOT for their partnership and support in expanding transit access to this growing community.”

UTA implements new and adjusted services three times each year on a Change Day in spring, fall, and winter. Change Days are key components of UTA’s efforts to improve quality of life in the region by increasing access to transit and restoring service in areas where it was previously reduced. Service updates are based on systemwide analysis, community requests and feedback, operational and cost considerations, and other factors.
