Upcoming ENS Sign Awareness Day Promotes Rail Crossing Safety
6/11/2026

Join Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) for the second-annual ENS Sign Awareness Day on June 24. Sharing information and tools about ENS signs help the general public and first responders recognize and use the Blue and White Emergency Notification System (ENS) signs located at rail crossings.
The signs provide a phone number and location information needed to quickly report emergencies or safety concerns around tracks and trains directly to the railroad. Knowing how to find and use ENS signs can help ensure a faster emergency response when vehicles are stuck on tracks at rail crossings.
OLI provides a toolkit of resources to help spread the word and suggests the following activities:
- Connect with a state coordinator to host or attend community events or safety blitzes
- Utilize OLI’s public service announcements, videos, and social media graphics to promote the ENS sign online and in conversations
- Connect with first responders to share the importance of the ENS sign and OLI’s RISC training
- Follow and tag OLI on social media
- Invite partners to share the messaging
