WMATA Hosts Hampton University for a Tour of the MICC

Staff members of APTA’s Workforce Development and Educational Services department along with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) leaders hosted a tour this week for Hampton University to introduce the students to internships and careers in the public transportation field. Jewel Bell, assistant chief transportation officer, buses and Shanita Wilkinson, assistant chief transportation officer, rail planned for the students to tour the new Metro Integrated Command & Communications Center (MICC) in Alexandria, VA. The students met two former interns who are now WMATA employees along with staff who work collaboratively in rail, bus, maintenance, cybersecurity and technology, and safety, security, and surveillance.
