VVTA’s Expanded Service Links Interim Housing Residents to Transit Network

Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA), Hesperia, CA, has expanded public transportation access to the Victorville Wellness Center, allowing residents of the interim housing campus to connect with the regional transit network.

Rod Goldman, VVTA chief executive officer, said, “Reliable transportation is essential to helping people access healthcare, employment, housing opportunities, and other vital services. By connecting the Wellness Center directly to the Victor Valley Transportation Center, we’re removing transportation barriers and helping residents stay connected to the resources they need to build a brighter future.”

The Victorville Wellness Center opened in December 2023 as a low-barrier, non-congregate interim housing campus. The 170-bed facility provides temporary housing, on-site medical care, behavioral health services, case management, and other supportive services to help individuals and families transition to permanent housing.

Victorville Mayor Liz Becerra said, “The City of Victorville is extremely grateful to VVTA for expanding bus service to the Center, which increases access to resources that are making a difference for our community’s most vulnerable.”
