Via Establishes Mayors Council

3/10/2026

To advance best practices in modern mobility for metropolitan regions, transit technology company Via is establishing a Mayors Council. The council will assemble current and former mayors from across the Unites States to maximize the impact of transit technology, enhance the economic impact of public transit on metropolitan areas, and facilitate meaningful change.

Mayors participating in the council will have a strong track record of leading innovations in public transit. The council will support the sharing of proven transit technology strategies and insights.

Via CEO and Co-Founder Daniel Ramot said, “In our work with cities across the country, we have witnessed firsthand the important role that efficient and affordable public transit can play in driving economic growth and opportunity. At a time when the industry is advancing rapidly, this is the right moment to convene a group of forward-thinking leaders to facilitate meaningful change.”

The council will be chaired by mayors Paul TenHaken of Sioux Falls, SD, and Andy Berke of Chattanooga, TN, with former New Jersey City mayor Steven Fulop serving as the council’s president. Other inaugural members include Mayor Martha Guerrero from West Sacramento, CA, and former mayors Levar Stoney from Richmond, VA, Shelley Brindle from Westfield, NJ, and G.T. Bynum from Tulsa, OK.

“Investing in transit offers a meaningful opportunity for city leadership to have a lasting impact on the community,” said former Mayor Fulop. “I look forward to partnering with Via and my co-chairs to build this council and to collaborating with my peers to share best practices and lessons on funding and implementing transit innovation.”
