This February, APTA is hosting two webinars—one on automated vehicles and another on systems integration. The live web event for Automated Vehicles 101: What Public Transportation Agencies Need to Know will be held Feb. 12, 1:00 p.m. Eastern. A Practical Tutorial on Systems Integration – What Where, When, Why & How! will be held Feb. 17, 2:00 p.m. Eastern.

Automated Vehicles 101: What Public Transportation Agencies Need to Know

Public transportation agencies across the country are exploring how to maximize automated vehicle technology to advance mobility, and others are launching or exploring pilots and full deployment services. APTA has established the Automated Vehicles & Innovation (AVI) Committee, a new forum dedicated to practical insights, shared experiences, and real-world guidance on AV deployment.

Moderated by AVI Chair Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., CEO of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, FL, this session brings together practitioners who have already taken their first steps into the AV space. They’ll share lessons learned, practical advice, and honest perspectives on what works—and what to consider before getting started.

A Practical Tutorial on Systems Integration – What Where, When, Why & How!

Selecting an accountable systems integrator is a practical problem faced by agencies for every project. Integration of any modern technology presents challenges that involve considerable risk. Technology is evolving faster than typical project lifecycles.

While technology works as expected on the supplier test bench, failures can occur when integrating into agency subsystems. The acquiring agency becomes the integrator, who has to make it all work in the end. This tutorial, moderated by Metrolinx Systems Engineer Manager Sanjiv Pillai, will define systems integration and review options when executing systems integration.
