SMART Names Tiffany Gunter General Manager

The Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART), Detroit, MI, has named Tiffany J. Gunter as its new general manager, effective Aug. 1. She will succeed Dwight A. Ferrell, who has announced his retirement.

Gunter has more than 20 years of experience in transportation, public planning, and public policy. Most recently, she served SMART as deputy general manager & COO. Before joining the agency, she was deputy director of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments.

Previous roles include serving as deputy city manager for the City of Birmingham, MI, and interim chief executive officer at the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan.

Gunter is a graduate of the Leadership APTA Class of 2025.
