SFRTA Breaks Ground on First Transit-Oriented Development
2/20/2026

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) broke ground to bring new housing, retail, and improved station-area infrastructure to Boca Raton. The Link at Boca will be a mixed-use, transit-oriented development adjacent to Tri-Rail’s Boca Raton station. The project represents a milestone in SFRTA’s efforts to marry convenient transit access within vibrant live/work communities along the eastern Florida coast.
Developed through a public-private partnership with 13th Floor Investments and Rockpoint, the development will consist of eight-story buildings with 340 residential units and approximately 24,000 square feet of lifestyle-oriented retail space.
“This groundbreaking represents what is possible when the public and private sectors work together with a shared vision and a long-term commitment to the communities we serve,” said Palm Beach County Vice Mayor and SFRTA Chair Marci Woodward.
The community is designed to appeal to commuters, professionals, families, and residents seeking convenient access to regional transit. The residential components will include studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments as well as a pool deck, coworking spaces, social lounges, fitness and wellness areas, family-friendly features, and a 650-space parking garage.
The project’s direct access to major roads and proximity to Florida Atlantic University, the Boca Raton Innovation Campus, and Boca Raton Airport provides transit riders with access to employment centers, educational institutions, retail destinations, and recreational amenities.
“By integrating development directly with our rail system, we are strengthening the connection between transportation and quality of life, creating places where people can live, work, and play,” added Woodward. “We are proud to be part of this effort and excited about the positive impact it will have for our riders, businesses, and the entire South Florida region.”
The project marks the realization of efforts that began in 2015 with an FTA grant of $1.25 million to conduct transit-oriented planning activities along the Florida East Coast rail line. Construction is expected to take approximately 24 months.
