RIDE’s Success Stories In Airport Transportation
By Alex Trinh | 9/26/2024
RIDE’s 100 percent battery-electric buses can be seen in operation at many U.S. airports, such as Los Angeles World Airports (LAX), Tampa International Airport (TPA), and Kansas City International (KCI). There are many success stories that show how RIDE’s 100 percent battery-electric buses are making a difference in airport transportation operations.
Florida is shining brighter and cleaner with the adoption of RIDE’s battery-electric buses. Tampa International Airport reinforced its commitment to zero-emission transportation by adding three more RIDE buses to its fleet. These buses follow the delivery of four K9M buses delivered by RIDE last year, marking the airport’s first venture into battery-electric vehicles. The introduction of these 40-foot low-floor K9M buses will contribute to TPA’s electrification efforts and replace its existing CNG buses.
Travelers visiting Kansas City International Airport can find themselves on RIDE’s battery-electric bus. The airport was the first in the nation to use battery-electric vehicle technology to service its passengers. KCI utilizes RIDE’s 30-foot K7M buses that serve as parking lot shuttles, bringing passengers to the airport terminals. RIDE’s buses have been in operation at KCI since 2017!
Los Angeles World Airports (LAX) has many of RIDE’s 60-foot K11M battery-electric buses that are used for airfield passenger transportation. They can be seen on the tarmac when travelers are passing through the busy airport. These buses are replacing diesel buses, making the largest battery-electric airport fleet of its kind in the country. LAX is benefitting from RIDE’s battery-electric buses by significantly reducing the fleet’s energy and maintenance costs as well as providing the environmental benefits and providing users with a quieter ride.
Airports around the world have been making significant strides toward sustainability by electrifying their transit systems. This shift toward zero-emission transportation is not just a trend, it’s a crucial step toward reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality, and creating a more sustainable future for all.
In partnership with Jobs to Move America (JMA) and SMART Local 105, RIDE became the first electric vehicle manufacturer to have a Community Benefits Agreement, which is designed to create opportunities in the manufacturing industry for underrepresented and underserved populations.
