Pace Celebrates Dolly Day with Little Libraries

In honor of Dolly Day, Pace Suburban Bus will have special signage and install little lending libraries at six of its transit centers across suburban Chicago, IL. The libraries encourage reading for all ages as passengers can easily take or leave a book.

Across the United States, communities are marking Dolly Day on September 25—a nod to her song “9 to 5”—by celebrating her cultural impact, which includes her commitment to literacy. Her Imagination Library provides free books to children of up to five years of age.

“Dolly Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading and the simple ways we can help connect people to books,” said Pace Chairman John Noak. “These little libraries will make it easier for passengers to share stories, discover something new, and contribute to a culture of learning and community.”

Pace Executive Director Melinda Metzger said that Parton reminds us that “a single book can open the door to imagination, opportunity, and hope.”
