The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) has launched the 727 Airport Express, connecting downtown St. Petersburg, FL, with Tampa International Airport.
At a ribbon-cutting event, PSTA CEO Brad Miller said, “People have been asking for a direct connection between St. Pete and Tampa International Airport. It’s a commitment to our riders and our region to keep finding better ways to connect Tampa Bay.”
The new route gives St. Petersburg residents, visitors, and airport employees a new, affordable option for traveling between the city and the airport. The service operates seven days a week from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. It has nine stops throughout downtown St. Petersburg and utilizes express lanes on its way to the airport. Buses include luggage racks and connect with the broader PSTA network.
“Visitors come from around the world, and they ask all the time, ‘How do I get to St. Pete? How do I get to the beaches?’ and until now, the answer was taxi or rideshare,” said Michael Stephens, CEO of Tampa International Airport. “But this new 727 Airport Express service is going to be a great new option for those folks, so they can take a quick ride across the Howard Frankland, non-stop to downtown St. Pete. This is super exciting!”
