MARTA Launching BRT Line

2/25/2026

Atlanta is getting its very first bus rapid transit line. The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) announced the Rapid A-Line will be launched in two phases; the first phase is set to launch on April 18.

The Rapid A-Line will consist of five miles connecting downtown Atlanta to Capitol Gateway, Summerhill, Peoplestown, and the Beltline’s Southside trail. In addition, there will be connections to MARTA’s heavy rail system at Five Points, Georgia State, and Garnett stations. This aligns with MARTA’s mission to advance connectivity for a more livable region.

The project’s first phase is part of the NextGen Bus Network initiative and will be launched with features such as offboard fare payment, real-time service information, level boarding, and other amenities often associated with rail stations. Service hours will run from 5:00-1:00. In areas where construction for the Rapid A-line has been completed, buses will operate in dedicated lanes to provide riders with a smooth and quick mode of travel.

MARTA hopes that with the launch of phase one of the Rapid A-line, it will fulfill its mission of providing transit services that advance prosperity, connectivity, and equity for the Atlanta region.
