MARTA GM & CEO Collie Greenwood Announces Retirement

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) General Manager & CEO Collie Greenwood has announced his retirement. Chief Customer Experience Officer Rhonda Allen has been named acting GM/CEO.

Greenwood joined MARTA in July 2019 as chief of bus operations and urban planning, advanced to deputy general manager of operations in 2021, and was named GM/CEO in January 2022. Under his leadership, MARTA achieved the highest AAA bond rating during a difficult financial time and has advanced the largest improvement and expansion program in its history, including construction of the region’s first BRT line, a systemwide rail station rehabilitation project, and an entire fleet of new railcars.

For APTA, Greenwood is a member of the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Public Transportation CEO Coordinating Council. He is chair of the Standards Development Oversight Council and serves on the APTA Bus Task Force, Bus & Paratransit CEOs, Rail Transit CEOs, BRT, and Legislative committees. Under his leadership, MARTA won APTA’s 2024 Outstanding Public Transportation System Achievement award for agencies providing 50 million or more annual passenger trips.

The MARTA Board of Directors will begin the search for a general manager and CEO.
