Learn About Proposed Changes to CIG Policy Guidance
4/25/2024
FTA is hosting a webinar May 2 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern to provide an overview of the changes proposed to the Capital Investment Grants (CIG) policy guidance.
On April 5, FTA released proposed guidance, starting a 60-day public comment period. The comprehensive set of proposed revisions includes procedures and criteria FTA uses to evaluate and rate projects and is intended to update FTA’s CIG Policy Guidance, which was published in January 2023.
The CIG Program is the federal government’s largest discretionary grant program to fund transit capital investments, including heavy rail, commuter rail, light rail, streetcars, and BRT. FTA implements the CIG program, in part, through policy guidance that includes the process applicants must follow to be considered for discretionary funding for New Starts, Small Starts, Core Capacity, and Bundles of CIG projects.
