In Memoriam: Frank J. Wilson, Former APTA Chair

Frank J. Wilson, a former APTA Chair and longtime transportation expert, died March 2.
Wilson had a long career in the public transportation industry. He served as president and CEO of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Houston, TX; president of AECOM Enterprises; transportation commissioner for the state of New Jersey; general manager of Bay Area Rapid Transit, San Francisco, CA; and deputy director of transit systems in Philadelphia and Chicago.
APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas said, “Frank rose to senior leadership at a young age and carried that forward in leading several prominent transit organizations in a variety of large regions. His commitment to sound management and his vision for the development of transit were exemplary. Frank served as APTA chair during a pivotal year of change, and he is remembered many years later for that leadership.”
For APTA, Wilson also had served on the Bus & Paratransit CEOs, Rail Transit CEOs, Rail Transit, and legislative committees, among others.
