Here is a sneak peek at what organizations are doing for the day:

C-TRAN, Vancouver, WA: Jay Housgard, community engagement coordinator, shares, “For National Transit Career Day, C-Tran plans to host a career swap event, in which staff from across a variety of teams have the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a co-worker. We hope this will allow staff to connect in new ways, across teams, and provide them with perspective and inspiration. They will share out their learnings and also share a meal together after the swap is complete.”

San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART), Oakland, CA: Candis Bell, talent acquisition manager, shares, “For National Transit Career Day, BART will host an engaging recruitment table at one of our busy BART stations. Our initiative will highlight the wide range of career opportunities available within the district, with a focus on connecting directly with the community we serve.”

The BART recruitment table will provide:

  • Career Information: Materials on current and upcoming job opportunities across operations, maintenance, professional, and administrative roles.
  • Interactive Engagement: Recruiters and staff available to answer questions about the application process, share tips for success, and discuss career pathways within BART.
  • Workforce Development Resources: Information on internships, apprenticeships, and training programs that support career entry and advancement in transit.
  • Community Connection: Outreach to local riders and jobseekers, reinforcing that transit careers are not only about moving people but also about building strong, diverse communities.
