Funding Opportunity for Buses and Bus Facility Infrastructure

FTA released a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) to apply for $610 million in competitive grant funding to support state and local efforts to buy buses, build bus facilities, and support workforce development. The FY 2026 Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Program NOFO includes:
- $21 million under the Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program, which supports transit agencies in buying and rehabilitating buses and vans and building bus-related facilities.
- $589 million under the Low or No Emission Grant Program, which makes funding available to help transit agencies buy or lease U.S.-built low- or no-emission vehicles, including related equipment or facilities.
FTA is publishing a joint NOFO because the two programs have overlapping eligibilities and must be implemented on the same timeline. Proposals are due by September 21.
