Donnie Campbell, Inspiration for Ted Lasso, Keynote Speaker at APTA’s 2026 Mobility Conference

Coach Donnie Campbell is a math teacher and a high school basketball coach whose leadership style was part of the impetus for the lead character on the hit show Ted Lasso. Campbell will be giving the Keynote Address at APTA’s 2026 Mobility Conference, May 17-20 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Campbell has been speaking to organizations like APTA about leadership and specifically, the importance of instilling strong values in work colleagues. He credits his leadership success to always having a positive attitude and mentors that prepared him for success.

For the past 36 years, Campbell has coached and taught math, but more importantly he has been building the confidence and character of the young men and women who have played for him.
