Contribute to the 2026 Public Transit Liability Benchmark Analysis
4/17/2026
As the risks related to operating transit systems evolve and new risks arise, APTA is continuing to partner with Aon’s Global Risk Management Consulting Group to collect, analyze, and share industry data on public transit liability. The result is a benchmarking study that enables transit systems to ultimately develop strategies to reduce liability exposures.
The study will provide transit systems with metrics to compare their respective risk profiles against other transit systems. It also provides information to reinforce and maintain standards of practice and safety levels, to potentially reduce the overall cost of risk.
APTA’s Risk Management Committee encourages members to participate in the study by providing the raw data requested for analysis. Data provided for the study will remain confidential and results are anonymous. The study includes a survey of qualitative risk-related factors that will be developed into a comparative analysis to be shared with all study participants.
Learn more and submit data by May 15.
