Cincinnati Metro CEO Darryl Haley to Retire

Darryl Haley, CEO and general manager of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA / Cincinnati Metro), has announced he is to retire June 1. Haley has been with the agency for 19 years, including the last five years as CEO and general manager.

Haley began his career at Metro as customer relations manager. He since held progressive leadership roles, including executive director of development, executive vice president and chief operations officer, and deputy general manager.

During Haley’s tenure, Metro has been recognized by Ohio DOT as the 2024 System of the Year, been an All About Women’s Best Places to Work recipient, and winner of the Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction for excellence in financial reporting and transparency, among other accolades.

Haley has received numerous awards and recognition for his work at Metro, including being celebrated in the 2024 Men of Honor, as an NAACP Game Changer, Business Courier C-Suite 2023 CEO of the Year, named to Cincinnati Magazine’s Power 300 list, Ohio Latin Commission’s Nuestra Familia Award, the Ohio Public Transit Association’s Leonard Ronis Leadership Award, and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials Thomas G. Neusom Founders’ Leadership Award.

For APTA, Haley is a member of the Public Transportation CEO Coordinating Council and serves on the Bus & Paratransit CEOs, Mid-Size Operations, and Financial Management committees and on the Streetcar Subcommittee.

A search for Haley’s successor will be announced in the coming months.
