Beep has begun carrying invited passengers in Lake Nona, Orlando, FL, in Volkswagen ID. Buzz electric vans equipped to drive autonomously. The service marks partner MOIA America’s first passenger operations in the United States.

Invited riders can request trips through the Beep mobile app and board at designated stops along three planned routes. Trained human operators will remain onboard during the test, and riders will be asked for feedback.

“This deployment is a defining milestone in our journey to make autonomous mobility a practical and scalable transportation option for communities across the United States,” said Mark Reid, co-founder and senior vice president of Beep.

The vans use self-driving technology developed by Mobileye. MOIA America is providing the vehicles, booking software, and operator training, while Beep is running the passenger service. Beep said the test will help the companies learn how passengers use the service and assess whether self-driving vans could supplement existing transportation options.

“The launch of passenger service in Lake Nona, with vehicles now operating at full traffic speeds, represents the introduction of an end-to-end autonomous microtransit solution that can expand access, strengthen connectivity through on-demand capabilities, and serve as a natural extension of existing mobility networks,” said Reid.
