BART–Uber “Game-Changing” Collaboration

1/21/2026

San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has announced a collaboration with Uber Transit to integrate rides into the BART app. This will streamline trip planning, booking, and payment, particularly useful for people who do not live within walking distance of a BART station. Riders will be able to book short Uber trips directly in the app.

“No longer having to use multiple platforms to plan, book, and pay for a trip involving BART and Uber is a game changer for our riders,” said Ravi Misra, BART’s Chief Information Officer.

BART General Manager Bob Powers noted that in addition to increasing ridership, which helps relieve road congestion, the collaboration will “expand access options as we build more housing in place of parking lots at stations.” Such transit-oriented development is important for the economic health of communities.

The partnership helps solve issues with first- and last-mile connections. The program will include a limited-time discount for trips starting and ending at 10 specific stations.
