APTA’s Alberts Addresses National Rail Crossing Safety Conference

Brian Alberts, APTA senior director safety and advisory services, was a guest speaker at the 2026 National Highway-Rail Grade Crossing Safety Conference April 6-9 in Atlanta, GA.

The National Highway-Rail Grade Crossing Safety Conference provides a collaborative forum for exchanging knowledge, sharing best practices, and promoting engineering design standards aimed at enhancing railroad grade crossing safety. Participants include representatives from state transportation agencies, federal organizations, passenger rail and freight railroads, and transportation associations.

Alberts provided an APTA Update, briefing more than 300 attendees on how the association is partnering with other agencies and organizations to improve safety across transit networks, including light rail and heavy rail services.
