APTA Urges Restoring Tax Credit for Alternative-Fuel Vehicles
12/11/2025
APTA, The Transport Project, and nearly 200 other organizations and businesses sent a letter to Capitol Hill urging Congress to restore the Alternative Fuels Tax Credit Dec. 9. The credit, which expired at the end of 2024, was utilized by several transit agencies with buses fueled by compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquified natural gas (LNG).
The letter also supports enacting a new credit for renewable natural gas (RNG) when used as a motor fuel.
APTA will continue to advocate for the Alternative Fuels Tax Credit and all other Surface Transportation Authorization Recommendations that have been adopted by its Legislative Committee.
