1/15/2026

APTA sent a letter to the leadership of the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations Subcommittees on Homeland Security, Jan. 14, urging them to provide at least $93 million to the Transit Security Grant Program (TSGP) for FY26.

In December 2025, the Senate Committee on Appropriations released S.____, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2026, which provides $93 million to TSGP, an $8.5 million increase from FY25 levels.

In June 2025, the House Committee on Appropriations approved H.R. 4213, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2026, which provides $84.5 million to TSGP for FY26, an increase of $800,000 from FY25 levels.

TSGP provides funding to eligible public transportation systems to protect critical surface transportation infrastructure and the traveling public from acts of terrorism. The program is administered by the FEMA and was originally authorized by the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007 (P.L. 110-53).
