APTA Thanks Homeland Security Subcommittee for TSGP Support
7/8/2025

APTA sent a letter to the leadership of the House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security July 7, thanking them for supporting the Transit Security Grant Program (TSGP) in H.R. 4213, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2026.
The bill, which passed the House Committee on Appropriations June 24, includes $84.5 million for TSGP for FY26, an increase of $800,000 (1.0 percent).
TSGP provides funding to eligible public transportation systems to protect critical surface transportation infrastructure and the traveling public from acts of terrorism. The program is administered by FEMA and was originally authorized by the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007 (P.L. 110-53).
APTA is encouraged by the committee’s action and appreciates that it did not adopt the President’s proposed cuts to the program. The President’s Budget proposed to cut TSGP funding by 51 percent, to $41 million.
