APTA is hosting its 2024 Mobility Conference and International Bus Roadeo in Portland, OR, this week. The event brings together hundreds of bus and paratransit professionals to discuss industry trends, unveil new products, exchange best practices, and celebrate excellence in bus operations.

The opening day featured remarks from long-standing public transit advocate and recipient of the APTA Congressional Legacy Award, Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), and acclaimed multimedia artist Phil Hanson. Attendees also have the chance to explore exhibits showcasing cutting-edge mobility innovations and engage in networking sessions.

“APTA’s Mobility Conference is an important gathering for the public transportation community to drive positive change through meaningful discussion and collaboration,” said APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas. “It also offers a firsthand look at the latest innovations revolutionizing our industry.”

In conjunction with the conference, APTA is hosting the International Bus Roadeo, where bus drivers and maintenance teams demonstrate their expertise through a series of challenges designed to assess skill and a commitment to safety standards. Following a five-year hiatus, this year’s Roadeo has 390 participants, including 76 bus drivers, 46 maintenance teams, and 38 combined teams, competing in events emphasizing safety, efficiency, and professionalism.

The Roadeo serves as a fitting tribute to their talent and dedication to both our industry and their communities.”
