APTA, JITTI March 2026 Rail Symposium Strengthens U.S.–Japan Cooperation

The 2026 APTA and Japan International Transport and Tourism Institute (JITTI) Rail Symposium: Enhancing Economic Impact, Innovation and the Customer Experience through Major Projects and Mega Events, March 26, 3:00-6:00 p.m. Eastern in Washington, DC, is open for registration.

Major investments are underway in the U.S. and Japan—from Northeast Corridor upgrades and preparations for the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics in the U.S., to major rail developments and event-driven improvements in Japan. Japanese manufacturers are also expanding operations in the U.S., supporting infrastructure and job creation.

In this hybrid in-person and virtual event, hosted in English and Japanese, renowned rail leaders from the U.S. and Japan will discuss railway investment and economic impact, mega events, safety, accessibility, and more.

The symposium will focus on expanding the economic benefits of rail investment, enhancing the customer experience, and strengthening U.S.–Japan cooperation through deeper transportation and economic ties. Special remarks from Shigeo Yamada, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the U.S.; APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas; Masafumi Shukuri, Chairman, JITTI and JTTRI; Yoshimichi Terada, Vice-Minister for Transport, Tourism and International Affairs, MLIT.
