APTA Chair Addresses 2025 UITP North America Conference

APTA Chair Leanne Redden, executive director, Chicago Regional Transportation Authority, offered welcome remarks at the opening of the 2025 UITP (International Association of Public Transport) North America Conference Nov. 20-22 in Los Angeles, CA.

The UITP North America Conference connects transit leaders across the region with UITP’s global expertise, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration to address the most pressing challenges and innovations in urban mobility. This host of this year’s conference was the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro).

Redden remarked that, “From automation to AI, customer service to customer safety and security, developing transit’s workforce to transit-oriented development, the North American industry is demonstrating its ability to innovate, navigate challenges, and provide essential and excellent services to our communities.”

Redden also moderated a conference panel titled Global Leaders, Shared Vision: Transit’s Next Chapter with Stephanie Wiggins, CEO, LA Metro; David Vitezy, former CEO, Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK); Joan Bigas, director of mobility for the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB); and Kevin Corbett, Senior Fellow for Transportation Studies, School of Engineering, Rutgers University and former president and CEO, NJ TRANSIT.
