America Is Building Again!

I look forward to meeting with the transit industry at APTA’s annual Legislative Conference. This Administration is committed to building a safe, affordable, and reliable transit system for American families using our bus, commuter rail, ferry, and trolley systems to enjoy.

Under President Trump’s leadership, this Transportation Department is shifting gears to focus on what the American people have asked for loudly and clearly: safe and efficient systems. The days of shifting blame and dressing up failing and ageing infrastructure behind crazy DEI metrics and environmental justice goals are gone. We are going back to basics. That means building projects that get American families, first responders, students, and workers to their destination quickly and without incident.

In the first months of this Administration, I have told states and localities to provide clean and safe transportation to the public. I’ve asked our partners in law enforcement to enforce the law to lower crime rates on public transit. That means arrests for assaults and fare evasion.

America is building again! That means I have made it my priority to invest in projects that deliver the greatest benefits to our families. The President and USDOT prioritize economic expansion over wasteful programs that only serve to check a social justice box.

The American people have my commitment that we will be good stewards of their dollars and invest in solutions that make their lives simpler. I’ll ensure that these dollars are spent efficiently and responsibly on projects that help parents get to and from work quickly, transport our children and students with care, and ensure our transit workers are safe as they work to get Americans to their destinations. We will invest in innovative tools that give the U.S. a competitive edge on the world stage and expand on opportunities to increase accessibility on public transportation.

It’s my honor to serve as your Secretary of Transportation, get America building again, and make travel on public transportation easier and safer for our families. I look forward to the great work ahead with our partners here at APTA to continue to deliver for the American people.
