CATS Launches New Microtransit Service

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), NC, has launched a new, on-demand microtransit service, CATS Micro, initially serving the Northern Mecklenburg County area, including the towns of Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, and Charlotte.

For the same fare as a local bus or rail trip, CATS Micro provides point-to-point trips within a designated zone. CATS is partnering with MV Transportation and Spare to provide the service. MV Transportation is providing turnkey service operations and Spare is providing an all-in-one operations platform for end-to-end scheduling and booking.

“This part of Mecklenburg County is full of activity centers, jobs, education centers, healthcare, and more,” said CATS Interim CEO Brent Cagle. “CATS Micro will help in connecting customers seamlessly to these areas as well as each other.”
