CINCINNATI, OH—Cincinnati Metro announces that three of its executives have been recognized for outstanding contributions and leadership in the region.
Darryl Haley, Metro’s CEO, was honored with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s (NAACP) Game Changer Award during the historic organization’s annual Freedom Fund Gala. This accolade is presented to individuals or organizations who have made significant contributions to the NAACP’s overarching goals, including economic sustainability, education, health, public safety and criminal justice reform, and voting rights and political representation. For APTA, Haley is a member of the Public Transportation CEO Coordinating Council and serves on the Bus & Paratransit CEOs and Mid-Size Operations committees, among others.
Brandy Jones, Metro’s chief communications and marketing officer; and Khaled Shammout, chief strategic planning, development, and innovation officer, received top honors in their respective categories at the Cincinnati Business Courier’s C-Suite awards, which recognizes top-level executives whose leadership skills and business acumen have driven strong results for organizations across Greater Cincinnati. For APTA, Jones is a member of the Marketing – PIOs Task Force and serves on the Marketing, Communications, and Customer Experience Committee.
DENVER, CO—The Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) has named Dr. Glynell Horn, Jr. and Steven Martingano as acting co-chiefs of its transit police and emergency management department. Two will remain in the acting role until a permanent chief is named.
Horn joined the RTD-PD in 2023 as deputy chief of patrol and security, bringing nearly two decades of law enforcement experience in the Houston, TX, metro area. Prior to his RTD appointment, he served as assistant chief of police at the Stafford Police Department, TX.
Martingano was hired by RTD in 2015 after working for the New York City Police Department and other Denver metro area law enforcement agencies. He was named the RTD-PD deputy chief in 2017 and has led many innovative, community-based programs on the transit agency’s behalf.
OLYMPIA, WA—Rachel Bernhard, P.E., CVS, has been promoted to HDR’s director of value engineering and project risk management. She will help set the strategy for HDR’s value engineering program while applying her technical expertise as an active facilitator in project and program work. Prior to joining HDR’s value engineering and risk group, Bernhard was a designer for numerous local and national roadway and stormwater projects and was a construction inspector for rail and water projects.
RICHMOND, VA—UZURV has finalized its leadership transition, naming Ned Freeman to the position of chief executive officer. Freeman succeeds John Donlon, the founding CEO, who will continue his role as a member of UZURV’s Board of Directors and serve as UZURV’s president. Freeman joined UZURV in 2019 as EVP of marketing as the company began its national expansion. In 2021 he became the company’s chief operating officer. He brings 30 years of organization-building executive experience in marketing, product development, and operational leadership to the CEO role. For APTA, Freeman serves on the Mobility Management and Access committees and on the Accessible Transit & Paratransit Operations Subcommittee.
