Bipartisan Leaders Agree on Deal to Unlock Final Appropriations Bills

Bipartisan Leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, together with appropriations committee leaders, reached an agreement Feb. 28 to extend government funding, which expires March 1, and prevent a government shutdown.

The leaders issued a joint statement stating that negotiators had reached agreement on six bills, including the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) Appropriations bill, and this package will be voted on and enacted prior to March 8. The remaining six appropriations bills will be finalized by March 22.

By March 1, Congress is expected to enact a Continuing Resolution to continue funding government programs through March 8 and March 22.

The text of the full-year THUD Appropriations bill and other appropriations bills included in the first tranche of legislation are expected to be released this weekend.
