Beep, Inc. has completed its merger with Freebee, combining Beep’s autonomous mobility operations with Freebee’s on-demand public transportation network. The company will operate under the Beep name, while its existing microtransit services will continue under the Freebee brand.

Freebee operates electric, door-to-door microtransit services in more than 50 municipalities, campuses, and business districts across the southeastern United States. It has a fleet of more than 300 vehicles and provides more than 2 million rides annually. The combined organization reports operations in more than 60 communities and nearly 1,000 employees.

Beep co-founder Kevin Reid, who will serve as chairman and chief executive officer, said, “This transaction accelerates the industry’s journey to autonomous mobility, giving communities the ability to implement meaningful services today while giving people the flexibility to choose between human-driven, autonomous, or blended transportation solutions.”

The company said it plans to continue Freebee’s microtransit operations and add autonomous service where appropriate. Customers will be able to deploy human-driven, autonomous, or blended networks through one provider.

Freebee co-founders Kris Kimball and Jason Spiegel will join the executive team as chief operating officer and president and chief growth officer, respectively. “Bringing Freebee and Beep together creates a company capable of delivering future-proof mobility solutions,” said Spiegel. “I’m incredibly proud of what our team has built and excited to offer customers a more comprehensive mobility platform.”
