FTA to Invest $166 Million to Upgrade Passenger Railcars

FTA is delivering $166 million to upgrade passenger rail vehicles at three transit agencies. Through the Rail Vehicle Replacement Grants program, the following agencies will receive funds:
- Pittsburgh Regional Transit for 45 new light rail vehicles
- Dallas Area Rapid Transit for 53 light rail vehicles
- Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority to replace Silverliner IV electrical multiple unit commuter railcars
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy said, “These funds will buy new, safer light rail vehicles that have been in service for decades. New transit infrastructure will help commuters avoid delays and improve their passenger experience.”
