Waiver of Buy America Requirements for Certain Minibuses: Revised Proposal; Request for Supplemental Comments

FTA published a notice and request for comments on a proposed temporary Buy America waiver for certain battery-electric minibuses Dec. 20, 2024. On August 18, 2026, FTA published a supplemental request for comment related to that proposal.

FTA is seeking additional comments on whether it should revise its Dec. 2024 proposal to eliminate the requirement that the covered minibuses must be electric. As now proposed, FTA’s waiver would allow otherwise qualifying vehicles of all propulsion types.

The deadline to submit comments is Sept. 2.
