Tony Bridges Named New MD MTA Administrator

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has named former Delegate Tony Bridges as administrator of the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), succeeding outgoing administrator Holly Arnold, effective Sept. 1. Bridges currently serves as deputy legislative officer for Gov. Moore, where he leads the development, coordination, and advancement of the administration’s economic development legislative agenda.

Bridges previously served as assistant secretary at the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), guiding the agency’s statewide equity and public engagement strategies. His tenure at MDOT also included roles as senior advisor to the secretary and chief of staff for the MTA. From 2019-2023, he served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Baltimore’s 41^st District and a member of the Appropriations Committee.

Arnold has served as administrator since June 2021. In her nearly 14 years with MTA, she also served as deputy administrator and chief planning, programming, and engineering officer; director of planning and programming; deputy director, office of planning and programming; and capital program manager. Before coming to MTA, Arnold was a transportation analyst at both CH2M HILL and Booz Allen Hamilton, and economic development manager for Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.

Arnold is a member of the APTA Board of Directors and Public Transportation CEO Coordinating Council and serves on the Rail Transit CEOs; Rail Transit; Commuter Rail; Legislative; Workforce Development; Bus & Paratransit CEOs; Innovative Funding, Finance, and P3; and Access committees, among others. She is a graduate of the Leadership APTA Class of 2017.
