New Bus Service to Connect St. Peterburg and Tampa Airport 

By October, travelers to and residents of St. Petersburg, FL, will have a new convenient transit option to connect to Tampa International Airport. The “727”—named after the area code—will provide direct bus service between downtown and the airport. 

The service is provided by Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) and utilizes newly constructed express lanes to bypass road congestion that typically impacts the route. Operating seven days a week and equipped with luggage racks, the service will offer residents, visitors, and airport employees a reliable, convenient, and affordable alternative to driving. 

Amanda Baird, director of communications and marketing for PSTA, said that the route has been one the agency’s most requested services. PSTA CEO Brad Miller said, “This is more than a new route. It’s a transformational investment in how our region moves.” 

Michael Stephens, CEO of Tampa International Airport, applauded PSTA and remarked on the benefits to both people and the economy. “This new express service will offer a convenient, reliable, and sustainable link across the bridge for our 25 million annual passengers and nearly 11,000 employees, strengthening mobility and growth for both Tampa and St. Pete.”
