FTA Announces Two Funding Opportunities

Tribal Transit Projects
FTA announced the availability of approximately $19 million in competitive grant funding to support transit services for American Indian tribes and Alaska Native villages in rural areas. The funding can be used for:
- New transit vehicles to transport commuters
- Upgraded bus facilities with state-of-the-art technologies
- Expanded transit services to reach more communities
FTA’s Tribal Transit Program supports transit services for federally recognized American Indian tribes and Alaska Native Villages, groups, or communities. The Notice of Funding Opportunity outlines the application criteria. Eligible projects must be submitted by August 25.
Railcar Replacement
FTA announced the availability of approximately $166 million in competitive grant funding through its Rail Vehicle Replacement Program. The Fiscal Year 2026 funds will support efforts to replace aging railcars to improve reliability, safety, and convenience on the nation’s rail transit systems.
The Notice of Funding Opportunity outlines the application criteria. Eligible projects must be submitted by July 6.
